Title: The Naturals (The Naturals #1)
Author: Jennifer Lynn Barnes
Published: November 5, 2013
Blurb (taken from Goodreads): Seventeen-year-old Cassie is a natural at reading people. Piecing together the tiniest details, she can tell you who you are and what you want. But it’s not a skill that she’s ever taken seriously. That is, until the FBI come knocking: they've begun a classified program that uses exceptional teenagers to crack infamous cold cases, and they need Cassie. What Cassie doesn't realize is that there’s more at risk than a few unsolved homicides—especially when she’s sent to live with a group of teens whose gifts are as unusual as her own. Sarcastic, privileged Michael has a knack for reading emotions, which he uses to get inside Cassie’s head—and under her skin. Brooding Dean shares Cassie’s gift for profiling, but keeps her at arm’s length. Soon, it becomes clear that no one in the Naturals program is what they seem. And when a new killer strikes, danger looms closer than Cassie could ever have imagined. Caught in a lethal game of cat and mouse with a killer, the Naturals are going to have to use all of their gifts just to survive.

Review: The Naturals had me hooked from the very first page! I found everything about the book enjoyable. I thought the main character, Cassie, was very smart and a great female lead. I liked reading from her perspective as she and the rest of the Naturals tried to solve their case. I enjoyed meeting the other team members and getting to know them and their abilities. Honestly, as someone who has a strong interest in criminal psychology, this book was right up my alley, and it definitely did not disappoint. Jennifer Lynn Barnes has a Ph. D. in psychology so she definitely knew what she was talking about in the book, and it shows. The Naturals kept me guessing who the killer was all the way through, and when I found out who it was I was completely shocked. The second book in the series, Killer Instinct, was released November 2014, and the third book, All In, is due out November 2015.
